HVAC/CFC Retrofit Program & Central Plant Modifications Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The management of Centre Square office facility had serious concerns regarding the operating efficiency of their existing central utility plant, the remaining “useful life” of their refrigeration equipment, and the impending CFC phase-out deadlines.
PWI completed a study of their central plant to optimize new equipment and utility fuel sources to meet their cooling and heating demands.
Based on an analysis of over 20 different system options, the recommended solution included retrofitting the two existing 2,500 ton centrifugal chillers with two 1,250 ton centrifugal compressors, each using refrigerant HFC-134a.
