Villanova University

The $22 Million expansion and renovation to Villanova’s Science Center included 55,000 square feet of new construction and 125,000 square feet of renovated laboratory space.
The lab program included graduate and undergraduate laboratories for chemistry, biology, animal facilities, teaching labs and faculty offices. PWI lead the programming effort and developed conceptual studies for the physical organization of the facilities and computer based cost models to assist the University with final budget allocations.
PWI was the prime consultant and provided project management for the team including the architectural, lab planning, and environmental safety consultants.
The project consisted of extensive electrical systems upgrades for the increased instrumentation loads, computer centers, and computerized classrooms and teaching labs. New HVAC systems replaced the original mechanical infrastructure in the 40 year old structure and the restrictive floor to floor heights required new vertical duct shafts integrated into the exterior of the building.
