The New CHP Energy Center consisted of upgrading the additional boiler plant with a new 800 HP boiler and feedwater system to serve the future hospital addition. A 3.5MW Combustion Turbine Generator was installed with a natural gas compressor and heat recovery boiler. The heat recovery boiler was sized for the increased load as well as the infrastructure to support the larger loads. To increase the chilled water generation capacity and provide a chiller that could operate in the event of loss of power, a 1,000 ton steam turbine chiller was also included. This was partnered with not only a new cooling tower for the new chiller, but towers for the existing chillers. There is also a new emergency generator plant that serves the future load of the hospital and will allow for demolition of the older emergency generators.
