Master Plan & Strategic Energy Master Plan
- The Master Planning effort studied four campus expansion options and capital renewal plans for “economic/synergistic” viability and minimal campus disruption. The plan expanded the existing campus from its current 1.7 million square feet to over 2.2 million square feet in the next 10 to 20 years.
- The second planning effort focused on Strategic Energy Planning and provided the hospital options to manage energy and utility costs. The YNNH purchases power from the utility and steam and chilled water from Yale University. Studying the benefits of being independent was a major consideration.
- The plan investigated new and emerging technologies, central utility plant site options, public funding and grant opportunities, environmental/regulatory requirements and LEED certification opportunities. Life cycle analysis and multi-year phasing plan was created for each option. A path of action was established to make the hospital energy efficient and economical for the next three decades.
