Visitors Welcome Center
- A new 12,721 square foot Visitors Welcome Center featuring environmentally friendly, green-design initiatives designed to cut operating costs and reduce energy consumption by up to 15%.
- Program consisted of replacing a one-room welcome center built in 1956. New facility includes restrooms, vending machines, traveling services such as personalized travel counseling, assistance with directions and plenty of information on accommodations and the state’s natural, scenic and historic attractions.
- Special green features include geothermal wells to maintain the standard 65 degree temperature in summer and winter, low flush toilets, rooftop gardens, energy efficient lighting, water collection systems, and automatic windows for open daylighting.
